About CMT
FDS currently has about 70 member companies consisting of shipyards, equipment suppliers, research entities and universities as well as ship owners and representatives of the German authorities. It is expanding its activities to other sectors of the maritime field, namely ports, shipping, marine technologies and environment, and is a focal point of a German maritime research network. It has many years experience in coordinating large German and European research projects including EU Thematic Networks CEPS, TRANSLAS, ERAMAR, ERANET, the Virtual Institute EVIMAR, ENCONA, the research project DockLaser and the Integrated Project InterSHIP.
Particular Research Expertise in: Production technologies: laser welding, development of lightweight structures, sandwich panels, simulation and production planning, shipyard processes and investment, strength and quality aspects of joining methods and new materials. Factory planning, production flow simulation, production planning and IT concepts.
